"Spirited by Loss" features work from three diverse series.  Each set of works arose from a different aspect of loss. The sculptures, "The Gathering" were conceived and developed while I was questioning the external/internal factors contributing to unexplained health issues I was experiencing at the time. The digital print series "Spirited by loss" emerged from a collection of digital sketches I created during a period of reflection and isolation, after supporting a dear friend through her illness and end of life. The newest ongoing series "The shirt off his back" is a tribute to my father, with the intention of creating a portrait through a series of woodblock prints of the patterns and colors of his shirts. I kept these items after his passing, knowing that I would someday work with them.
