The subject matter is the town of Field, Alberta, the most westernly point in Alberta of the Canadian Pacific Railway and the gateway to the Canadian Rockies. The rigorous mountain environment is reflected in these roughly hewn art works. These are large scale paintings, two of which are fifteen feet wide along with another ten foot square painting. Given the grand scale and using the encaustic process it takes two people to execute these large paintings. The exhibition also includes individual lanscape paintings by each artist.
