THE STORY SO FAR

Geoffrey Hunter’s new paintings continue the artists’ exploration of color, texture and surface. The artists’ approach is both additive and subtractive- sanding away layers of paint and and then building up layers of mages and surface texture.  Hunter explores complicated grid systems often overlaid with sharp geometric lines. The large scale paintings range from the most minimal to the most maximal, often echoing a reference to cartoon.
