CHRISTIAN GRANDJEAN lives and works in Calgary, Alberta
ARTIST STATEMENT
Grandjean Transcends the familiar symbols of normal daily perception to lead into a doorway of personal vision.
Grandjean studies the world surrounding him and responds to light, space, and color as opposed to recognizing a landscape, a sky, a city. He tries to capture not a "window" on a building facade but the complex architecture of light-space-color and create a compositon from it. The successful image, the "print" as the final version of the pursued idea, must reveal a feeling which does not attempt illustration but stands as an independant equivalent to the original source and convey a true expression of his ideas.
