Edward Burtynsky NEW MINES | EARLY QUARRIES
February 20 – March 26, 2016

Paul Kuhn Gallery is pleased to present a two part exhibition of photographs by internationally acclaimed  photographer, Edward Burtynsky.

The main gallery will present new large scale photographs of the Morenci and Chino copper mines, the largest mines of this type in North America.  As with many of Burtynsky's photographs, one is confronted with both  a sense of awe and dread. Looking at these vast mining operations suggest an unsettling awareness of human intervention into the pristine beauty of the landscape in the name of progres.

Gallery II will feature earlier photographs of quarries in Vermont and Carrara, Italy.  While the quarries were shot in the early 1990's, both bodies of work continue to focus on Burtynsky's ongoing ecological themes.

Burtynsky's work continues to fascinate audiences around the world. His work is held in prestige private, corporate and museum collections.
